It's no surprise that Boras would set a high bar for the opening bid on his biggest client this season. It's just doubtful that the market will reach that level, especially when Mark Teixeira played a different (read: less populated) position and found himself in a cash-o-war between baseball's biggest (spending) rivals, the Yankees and Red Sox. Boras should hope such a situation develops for Holliday. In the meantime, the Alfonso Soriano deal looks like a more likely indicator.  

Statisticians may not think much of Derek Jeter 's fielding, but managers and coaches in the American League still think pretty highly of the Yankees ' captain. Jeter won his fourth AL Gold Glove Wednesday, while Mark Teixeira took home his third. The Yankees were the only team in the AL with two winners, with both players earning their first Gold Glove award since 2006.

I've been trying to be a good sport about the Yankees winning the World Series, focusing more on my team winning, rather than the fact that Yankee-haters are so miserable right now. But I have to admit that there is a little (Squawker Jon would say more than a little!) "sports hate" in me, as Bill Simmons would say .
